The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology and Redlist Revival have signed a formal licence regarding the Broad Habitat Map for the UK mainland. The licence runs concurrently with the licence between Natural England and Redlist Revival for the Sustainable Life Indicator for Birds.

The Broad Habitat Map shows the six main habitat types across the UK at national, county & community level.

The material for the Broad Habitat Map is drawn from the Land Cover Map 2007 © NERC (CEH) 2011 which shows 27 habitat types across the UK.

Nicholas Corker CEH’s Innovation Manager commented, ‘It’s great to see CEH data sets used in such innovative ways, engagement is a precursor to action and the Redlist Revival initiative is leading the way in communicating the importance of biodiversity & how it relates to sustainable development’
